Jake Karklin High Limit Debut at Grandview; 19th place finish

July 27th 2023

BECHTELSVILLE, Pa. Jake Karklin joined the High Limit Sprint Car series at Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night. It was Karklin’s first night ever running with the series, and his first time ever racing at Grandview. 24th to 19th in the 30 Lap A-Main event!

After a solid 8th place finish at Selinsgrove Sunday- his future plans did not include making the trip to Grandview, but it was in the back of his mind. He woke up Tuesday morning and said, “I’m going to get the car ready; we are going to Grandview.” He spent all morning getting the engine in the car and ready but unfortunately mother nature won, and the event was rescheduled to Wednesday!

Wednesday afternoon Karklin and his team headed to Grandview. They went in knowing they were the underdogs but still wanted to give it their best shot. Karklin went 25th quick in qualifying which started him 9th in his heat. He finished 9th in the heat which lined him up 7th in B-Main. He had to advance one spot to make it to the A-Main as they were only transferring 6. With an aggressive start he was able to move up and hold onto the 6th place position which started him 24th in 30-Lap A-Main event!

“To qualify for the main event with such a prestigious series and some of the best sprint car drivers in the country is pretty special. It was the biggest paying event I have ever been a part of, and it is something we’ll always be proud of.” Karklin stated. “I didn’t really know what to expect going into the night. I just knew yesterday morning I wanted to go, and I gave it all I had to get it into the show, just wish we were a little more prepared and wasn’t so far off at the beginning of the night.”

Karklin and team were overall happy with their night, also learned a lot set up wise on a small track with the 410. Jokingly Karklin said “It honestly just made my night when Larson pulled a slider on me when he was lapping me. He is one of the best drivers in the country and it was just cool to be racing with drivers I look up to.”

Karklin started his Rookie 410 Season back in April of this year. Running Port Royal Speedway and Selinsgrove.
