Karklin hangs on for top-ten at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, PA (Thursday April 14th)-  Following rain, cool temps, and wind- Jake Karklin completed his second event of the 2022 racing season at Bloomsburg Speedway with the United Racing Club. This was Karklin’s first time at the Bloomsburg Fair Raceway and also their first race with the new track surface.

Karklin had an early start to his evening, timing 6th in hot laps. He was set to go out in the first heat race of the night. Starting second on the outside row next to the 8C of Brian Carber. The heat race would go green all 8 laps until the checkered flag and Karklin finished 3rd. Which locked him into the A-Main event of the night as well as the redraw.

As the USAC East Coast Wingless made their way down pit road for their first 15 lap feature - Karklin made his way to the pit shack for the redraw. Where the team would draw pill number 3 out of 8 pills. This set up Karklin to start 3rd in the A-Main event!

After redrawing, Karklin then made his way back to his pit to do the final touches on the 5k and get ready for his first ever 25 lap A-Main event at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway.

On the start of the feature Jake bobbled on the cushion which allowed multiple cars to get under him and really decided his night as most of the cars stayed on the bottom on the very narrow track. Unfortunately he fell back to 10th and stayed there for the remaining 23 laps. Although disappointed, Jake and Karklin Racing were happy to bring home their first top ten with the URC Sprints and added another track to their notebook!

“The track was pretty tacky and mostly smooth with a little bit of a curb to it.” Karklin said,  “It was definitely tighter and more narrow than I imagined.”

¨The tires held up pretty good, started to blister a little bit towards the end of the race but happy it didn't burn through them¨.

“Just need to be more consistent, we’re fast but just can’t get the end result which matters the most.

The team plans to regroup and get ready for Williams Grove and Selinsgrove and shoot for another top 10 or better.”

On Deck-

Karklin Racing will be making its next debut Friday April 29, at the famous Williams Grove Speedway. The race will be the URC 358/360 ¨Challenge Race Night¨. Followed by Selinsgrove Speedway the following night.
