Karklin records another top 10 in the books during Battle of the Groves double header weekend.

Middleburg, PA (May 2, 2022) Jake Karklin continues to be competitive and consistent in the early start of the season. Another weekend of results proves just that. Karklin scores 9th place finish at Williams grove, followed by 12th the following night at Selinsgrove.

Jake was the first heat on deck Friday at Williams grove, just his second time ever at this track. With 31 competitors, he knew he needed to be on the ball. Scheduled to start 4th in his heat on the outside beside Derek Locke. Karklin knew he needed to take advantage of the start, because making the redraw is a big key factor for the main event. Karklin held onto the 3rd place position 7 laps out of the 8-lap heat race, with heavy company from competitor Lucas Wolfe. Wolfe was able to get around Karklin on the final lap. That bumped Karklin out of the redraw and placed him 13th for the feature line-up.

Karklin lined up 13th for the 25 lap A-Main event, behind Lucas Wolfe and on the inside row beside Ken Meisner. Karklin advanced 4 spots in the feature & was able to collect another Top 10 finish! “It got pretty slick, and smooth and was fun to drive- but it was tricky for sure.”

“Our goal is to try to make redraws to get us in better starting positions to start the feature. Overall happy we got another top 10.  Especially at Williams grove ”

Karklin Racing Team then headed back home in preparations for Saturday’s event at the Home Track- Selinsgrove Speedway, again with URC. Selinsgrove and surrounding areas are special to Karklin and team because it is the home of many of our sponsors. National Beef, Selinsgrove Ford, Salem RV, and more are just within a mile of the racetrack!

“The pressure is on racing at our home track, I want to get a good run for my sponsors, and family that come out to support.” Karklin was only ever at Selinsgrove Speedway once, 2 years ago.

Pill draw wasn’t in their favor, as they had to start 8th in the first heat race. Karklin didn’t let his starting spot discourage him. He went forward to finish 5th in his heat race. He would be set to start 13th in the Feature Event.

With very little number of laps recorded- there was a caution. After contact from another car on the restart- Jake come into the hot pits to have crew look over his car, there was some contact to the left front but Karklin got pushed back off and had to restart at the tail of the field- 21st.

Karklin then went up through the field and finished 12th! Advancing 9 spots after restarting from the back! “Definitely would’ve been a top 10 car if we didn’t have contact from another car on that restart, we ran the rest of that race with a bent front end and w-link.”
